Beautiful Sky

In Japanese, Miku means "beautiful sky." Founder Seigo Nakamura chose the name for his daughter and for the stunning waterfront views that define the restaurant. Drawing on his family's 60-year restaurant heritage, Nakamura envisioned a place where traditional Japanese craft meets Vancouver's world-class ingredients.

In 2008, Miku introduced aburi-style sushi to Vancouver — flame-seared to order with a proprietary miso mirin mayonnaise sauce that has become the restaurant's signature. Under Executive Chef Kazuhiro Hayashi, the kitchen fuses elements of French and Italian cuisine into the Japanese canon, creating dishes that honor tradition while pushing boundaries.

Every piece of seafood is Ocean Wise-approved, sourced sustainably from the waters that shimmer beyond the dining room's floor-to-ceiling windows.

"Vancouver's best Japanese and views all rolled into one. The amount of attention to detail on these nigiri pieces was insane. Service was impeccable from start to finish."

"Miku makes some of the best sushi in Vancouver. They were the first to do aburi-style sushi here and they still do it best — theirs has the perfect amount of char, plus a secret miso mirin mayonnaise sauce."

"The Aburi Chirashi Tart was beautifully presented and excellent. The salmon oshi sushi featured Miku sauce, which is made in-house, creating a creamy and slightly sweet layer. The Green Tea Opera dessert's matcha ice cream was the best I've tried."
